Q. HOW DO I CARE FOR MY HANDMADE JEWELRY ITEMS?
A. As with all hand crafted items, you should treat them as you would fine jewelry. Please do not sleep with your jewelry on, or wear it in the shower or pool. Our items are not intended to be worn during exercise. We suggest spot cleaning your tassel with a drop of mild detergent solution on a soft cloth and blot dry…ONLY IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. We find that hanging your longer pieces of jewelry is the best means of storage and will insure that your tassel won’t get all wrinkled up!
Q. WHAT EXACTLY IS A MALA?
A. Mala beads are also known as Prayer Beads and are often referred to as the Buddhist Rosaries. They have been used for thousands of years and encompass spiritual qualities, which have their own energy and high vibrations. Use your Mala however you feel guided to. We feel there is no right or wrong way if you let your intuition guide you. What is important is doing the work! Let each bead focus your intentions to keep you centered during your meditation. This can be as simple as repeating one word or taking one breath on each bead as they pass through your fingers. Although Malas are beautiful pieces that you can wear, they are primarily tools, which are to be honored & treated with respect at all times. They are beautiful gifts to keep or to give. It is said that Malas are even more powerful when gifted to someone.
Q. WHAT IS FAIR TRADE?
A. You will see that we refer to our reclaimed, silk sari ribbon as Fair Trade. Fair Trade is an organized social movement whose stated goal is to help producers in developing countries achieve better trading conditions and promote sustainability. For us, it means that women in India are provided with life changing jobs and opportunities. They are paid fair wages, valued for their artistic ability, and respected. They are now able to feed and educate their children and provide them with greater opportunities for advancement within society. No child labor, no unsafe working conditions, no fear!
